Savannah and Derreck

The Cliffs of Moher Elopement

Adventure, Sparkles, and Dinosaurs for Savannah and Derreck

A little bit of sparkle, a lot of breathtaking views, and a dash of dinosaurs — yes, dinosaurs — made Savannah and Derreck’s wedding an incredible day to remember. The couple traveled with 15 of their closest friends and family all the way from Pennsylvania in the USA, crossing over the Atlantic to the Cliffs of Moher for their absolutely stunning ceremony.

The couple had only seen the Cliffs Of Moher in photographs, but took a risk and followed their dream of tying the knot there — and they couldn’t have made a better choice in eloping to Ireland. Savannah was able to glam up for the day surrounded by loved ones, all draped in emerald — a perfect touch for all of the green to come.

Savannah and Derreck knew that the most important thing to them was capturing memories that would let them relive their wedding day for the rest of their lives, and nothing is more memorable than those intimate moments. Derreck suited up and Savannah booted up, with some sparkling Betsy Johnson boots that were ready to take on the stunning Wild Atlantic Way terrain!

The ceremony itself was beyond breathtaking, with the couple standing on the cliffs and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. And in a delightful twist, Savannah had secretly chosen the Jurassic Park theme song — which led to Derreck shouting “Dinosaurs!” as she walked down the aisle. If this couple was looking forward to making some incredible memories, it’s safe to say that it was mission accomplished.

The day of our wedding could not have happened so perfectly without Nick. He made everyone, even the most camera-shy of our group comfortable and relaxed. Nick brought a fun energy to the day that I truly believe we wouldn’t have been able to accomplish if we hired anyone else. It was a joy to be able to spend time laughing with him throughout the time we were together.

– Savannah

This was a day full of light and warmth — and just plain fun, with Savannah and Derreck’s personalities shining through. But the romance was never lost, with the green grass and dramatic rock cliff edges providing an unbelievably stunning backdrop for the couple’s vows. You could see that the enormity of the location — and of the moment — was clearly felt by all of their friends and family.

There was plenty to keep the guests entertained. Not only did they take in the atmosphere and countryside of County Clare at the ceremony, they also held the reception at Gus O’Connor’s, a traditional pub in Doolin. This was the perfect choice for an elopement — letting friends and family from the States get a feel for some proper Irish hospitality.

But the couple wasn’t yet done capturing memories, and it was time for a very special photoshoot as dusk began to settle in.

The sunsets over the Cliffs Of Moher are a must-see, as amazing oranges and ambers spread across the sky, and the couple had an amazing time hiking over the landscape to find those perfect moments.

Clearly ready to make the most of their trip, they weren’t finished with Ireland just yet. Although they had an amazing with their friends and family, the couple also shared a private ceremony in Wicklow a few days later, with rolling hills, lush greens, and the beautiful Powerscourt Waterfall as the backdrop to their incredible day — and it was such an honor to be able to capture them at each location.

The couple even decided to stay in the Emerald Isle for their honeymoon road trip. They started in Doolin, before adventuring toward Galway, Adare, Dingle, Killarney, and Kinsale. By the time they headed back home from Dublin, Savannah said she was bursting with memories and happiness on the plane. It was definitely a trip worth waiting for — and we’re so glad we were able to capture it for them.
