Some frequently asked questions

If you don't see your query answered below please don't hesitate getting in touch with me.

How far in advance should I book?

Fridays & Saturdays are the most popular wedding days and will book quickly up to a year in advance. Other popular days such as bank holiday weekends, mid-terms, Christmas & Easter breaks can book up to 2 years in advance. There is no such thing as too early, so just send us an email and ask us to check your date.

How do I book & what is required?

To book we require a €500 deposit / booking fee to hold your date as well as a signed booking contract, all which can be completed online. That’s it! Once these are out of the way, we won’t be in contact until just before the wedding to go over the schedule for the day.

Do you travel? Are there extra fees?

I do travel and there are no extra charges for most weddings within Ireland. For weddings outside Ireland I'll tailor a custom package for you both.

What can we expect from you?

I want to make things easy for you both, so once you book me you won’t need to worry about anything. We can meet up in person or via Zoom a few months before your big day and I’ll get all the info I need from you & vice versa.

On the day of the wedding I am mostly in the background, capturing things as they happen without intrusion. I come to your home or hotel about 2hrs before the ceremony and I can either stay until dinner (6pm) or until about 30mins after the first dance (10:30pm)

What time do you start on my wedding day?

Every wedding is different, but in general I usually begin my coverage around 2 hours before your ceremony with the bride’s preparations.

How long do you photograph on my wedding day?

My typical wedding day coverage is around 7 hours – from morning preparations through until your seated for your dinner. We do offer packages that extend my coverage to include your speeches and first dances.

What if I'm terrible at having my photo taken?

I hear this a lot! To be honest, I think most people feel a little awkward initially in front of a camera, myself included.

That's why choosing the photographer who not only takes beautiful images, but also the one who suits you both best as a couple is so important. Most of the time you won't even know I'm there. But when required I can help guide you both, I'm good at keeping people at ease during their day. So you will be looking your very best in your photos.

Do you work alone, have an assistant or a second photographer on the day?

For most weddings, I work alone. Prior to your wedding we will run through the schedule for the day so I will be prepared and know exactly what needs to happen and when. I do work with a second photographer when it is needed. Please enquire for more details.

Are you going to keep us away from our guests at the reception taking us on a marathon length photo shoot?
Nope.  If you book me, I can help organise a photo session that suits you both.
You're hiring me remember 😉  I do require a certain amount of time to do what you're hiring me to do.
But a little bit of pre wedding planning, makes everything run smother on your day & while it's my job to deliver you beautiful images.  I also want you both to enjoy yourselves with the people that matter most (me) & of course I'll make sure you get loads of time to kick back with family and friends.
I love all the natural photos, but do you do family photos also?
Yes of course.  These are very important, I'm very good at organising & getting through them.
But it does help to ask bridesmaids and groomsmen for a little help rounding everyone up.  It's easier on you both, & if you limit numbers to immediate family.  There are less delays waiting on people.  Letting everyone know in advance when and where the family photo's are taking place can also make this easier for you both & everyone else.
When will we receive our wedding photographs?

In peak wedding season (May – September) our editing time is around 8 to 10 weeks. Off-peak weddings, our editing time is 3-4 weeks, if not sooner. We work 7 days a week (and longer hours than we care to mention!) to make sure to get you your wedding photos as quickly as possible.

How do we see our photos after the wedding?

Once all our editing is done and your photographs are ready for you, we will upload all of them into a secure, password protected, viewing gallery on our website. We then will email you the location and the password to view all of your photographs. Your viewing gallery is great for sharing with family and friends, as well as for purchasing prints

How many photos will we get?

Each wedding is different, but normally you will receive between 400 to 600 photographs.

Do we see every photograph you take?

No. We edit out all the unwanted photos (ie. eyes closed, blurred focus, subject not looking…) leaving you with the best of the best.

Do you retouch photographs?

Yes. All the best of the best images are corrected for colour, balance & contrast. Further edits like cropping, removal of unwanted things (light switches, exit signs) and black & white / sepia / vintage filters are also applied to selected images.

Are you insured?

YES I'm fully covered.

When is my balance due?

Your photography package balance is not due until just before or on your wedding day. Or if it is easier, payments can be made over course of several months to pay down your balance. Just ask us about these options. Payments for wedding albums are not due until after the wedding when you are ready to order.

What type of payments do you accept?

Booking fees can be paid by credit / debit card, bank transfer, cash, cheque, drafts, or postal orders.

Balances paid on wedding days must be paid in cash or draft.

How much 'posing' will we have to do?

My photography style is very laid back – so I let you dictate what you want on the day. Of course there are a few posed shots you should have, mainly family photographs. Other shots, while may be constructed are done so to look “unposed” in the photograph. Many times you will hear me say “Just hold hands, walk towards me and chat away as you go”. This isn’t posed, but I am aware of the outcome I am looking for. Any requests on the type of photos to be taken can be requested before the big day.

How long do family photos take?

I usually like to get the group & family photographs taken as soon after your ceremony as possible and can have these done in 20 minutes. These photos are very important to your day, but don’t need to take a large portion of your day to complete them.

Can you recreate photos I've seen elsewhere?

Of course! I do have my own particular style, but I am alway open to new ideas. And we love when brides & grooms take an active roll in creating the look of their wedding photos.

Do you shoot in colour or black & white?

All our images are captured digital in colour RAW format. This format allows us to easily change any photograph from colour to black & white. I make a judgement call on which photographs will look better in colour or black & white and this is what you will see. However, if you ever decide you would prefer one over the other, we can always revert the image back!

Can we make our own prints?

Yep! All the images are yours to do what you wish with!

What type of wedding albums do you offer?

We offer one of the largest ranges of albums in the country, from storybook albums, matted albums to fusion & fine art albums. We don’t want you to be limited in your choice and will go out of our way to make sure you get exactly what you want. Regardless of the type of album, I design every album from scratch – no templates here – which makes your album 100% unique.

How long does it take to get my album?

Once you decide if we chose your photo's (initially) or you have chosen your own photographs for your album, design time is around 2 weeks, if not less. I will then send you proofs to see what the design will look like for your review. Once everything is approved and the album has been ordered, production time ranges from 4 weeks up to 8 weeks depending on the type of album & time of year.

Do you have backup equipment?

Yes I always carry backup equipment on me and shoot with multiple memory cards. When I get home I back up your images again and also use cloud storage system for more backup. BACKUP!

Do you have testimonials?

YES the ones on the site and all via Google.

Do you do video?

No but I have a list of some great videographers and other vendors who I worked well with before. I send that on with the booking confirmations.
